About the Role

The Associate Teacher supports the Child Development Center by providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children aged 2.5 to 5 years. This role focuses on fostering physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth through a child-centered, dual-language curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
  • Meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child
  • Prepare classroom materials
  • Lead or assist with circle time
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences
  • Collect observations and report Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) ratings
  • Maintain monthly observational portfolios
  • Adhere to Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) safety guidelines
  • Ensure constant supervision and safety of children per State of California licensing regulations
  • Maintain required forms and reports
  • Comply with mandated reporting and child welfare laws
  • Participate in professional development workshops and training
  • Attend weekly Wellness Initiative meetings
  • Incorporate organizational values into daily interactions and activities

Requirements

  • Associate Teacher permit
  • Minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood or Childhood Development courses
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience working with children ages 3-5 in a preschool setting
  • Working knowledge of child and adult protective services reporting procedures
  • Experience with community care licensing policies and regulations
  • State certification in First Aid and Infant/Child CPR
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Outlook
  • Successful completion of full background check (DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index)
  • TB clearance and health screening
  • Valid immunization records including influenza, MMR, and TDAP
