About the Role
The Director of Project Delivery leads the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic and operational projects, ensuring alignment with company strategy, value delivery, and operational excellence. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners for business-critical initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead project portfolio governance and oversight, reviewing performance and milestones against organizational strategy.
- Assess program relevance and recommend strategic or operational adjustments for improved delivery.
- Prioritize projects based on business impact, resourcing, and risk.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide direction and leadership to cross-functional teams, ensuring clarity and accountability.
- Serve as the primary liaison between executive leadership and project teams.
- Implement and maintain robust governance frameworks, including approval processes and change controls.
- Act as the senior point of contact for third-party contractors, vendors, and delivery partners.
- Develop and maintain project controls, reporting frameworks, and delivery standards.
- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other business units for resource planning and budget alignment.
- Support continuous improvement in project delivery processes using lessons learned and performance data.
Requirements
- Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Transport Operations, Business Administration, or Construction Management preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in program or project delivery, preferably in transport, maritime, infrastructure, or public sector.
- Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional programs with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience in contractor and vendor management, including performance monitoring and dispute resolution.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, or equivalent).
- Consistent experience managing project capital budgets exceeding £5m.
- Ability to translate strategic goals into deliverable action plans.
