About the Role

This role is accountable for all aspects of fleet engineering, including maintenance, development, projects, and standards. You will prioritize safety, ensure compliance, and deliver exceptional reliability, comfort, and cleanliness for the fleet. You will lead a large team through a transformation program, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence to achieve exceptional results within budget. As part of the Operations Leadership Team, you will collaborate with internal departments and external agencies, owning relationships with engineering suppliers and OEMs.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the safety of teams and contractors on vessels and at facilities.
Ensuring all safety processes are developed and complied with, meeting Health and Safety regulations.
Accountable for defining and implementing training requirements for the department.
Accountable for fleet reliability, maintenance, appearance, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Accountable for the effective operation of EVA Bases, including dry docking operations.
Drive the technical development of new and existing vessels, supporting infrastructure and engineering supply chain requirements.
Ensure all work carried out by the department meets the highest standards, adhering to the International Safety Management code and relevant manuals.
Prepare, negotiate, and manage the department’s budgets and submit business cases.
Lead the EVA Team, motivating them and creating a continuous improvement culture focused on safety, technical excellence, and efficiency.
Ensure all technical incidents and non-conformities are reviewed and investigated to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
Liaise with Operational Department Heads, Safety, and Regulators regarding technical issues related to vessel safety.
Provide high-quality reporting to support business needs and regulatory requirements.
Approve all manuals, documents, plans, procedures, and policies within the SMS and EMS related to technical operations.
Ensure the planned maintenance and defect reporting system is continuously updated, managing vessel and component lifecycles.
Accountable for stores and stock management, ensuring availability of spares and equipment.
Provide a weekly Engineering Risk report, identifying issues with critical spares, supply chains, and equipment availability.
Manage the relationship and performance of contractors to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
Ensure robust supplier performance management processes are in place with EVA suppliers.
Manage the engineering strategic workforce plan to meet company growth plans and ensure training and skills meet emerging technology needs.
Implement succession planning and invest in the Engineering Apprentice Program.
Collate and distribute monthly MI to the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
Assist in developing and maintaining effective teamwork within departments with a safety and customer-centric focus.
Ensure all relevant information is communicated speedily and accurately.
Ensure all materials and resources are effectively and efficiently utilized to minimize waste and reduce costs.
Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team, business processes, environmental standards, and overall business performance.

Requirements

Extensive technical knowledge, with a transport background.
Experienced in regulatory environments.
Experienced People Leader of teams up to 100, preferably across multi-sites.
Expert & robust budget management experience (Circa £10 million p.a.).
Demonstrable supplier management and stakeholder engagement experience.
Strong Project definition and delivery, on time, on budget.
