About the Role

This is a crucial role within the Engineering leadership team, ensuring the engineering team runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. It involves managing a team, coordinating resources, and ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Provide line management for engineers and vessel appearance teams, supported by sub-contractors, to maximize engineering productivity.
  • Ensure the delivery of the plan and document reasons for any deviations.
  • Develop, document, and maintain processes, procedures, and guidelines for safety and quality standards.
  • Manage and monitor maintenance activities, ensuring completion in line with the agreed plan and accurate recording on Centrik.
  • Manage and maintain contractor relationships as allocated by HOD.
  • Ensure all work packages are completed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide and promote the highest level of customer service.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team, and business performance.
  • Ensure speedy and accurate communication of relevant information.
  • Ensure effective and efficient utilization of materials and resources to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Act as deputy to the Head of Engineering and Vessel Appearance.
  • Undertake other relevant duties or reasonable requests from HOD or senior management.
  • Assist with general engineering departmental functions, including holiday cover, Centrik, stock system management, and liaising with finance on budget performance.
  • Identify barriers to change and develop solutions to enable change.
  • Continuously seek improvements in personal, team, business processes, environmental standards, and overall business performance, focusing on safety, quality, and customer experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a transport-regulated engineering organization.
  • Experience managing engineers or technical teams.
  • Relevant experience working in high-pressure environments while maintaining high levels of safety and maintenance practices.
  • Familiarization with the management of ISM compliance.
  • Familiarization with the IMO High Speed Craft Code.
  • Previous experience and knowledge working to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards.
