About the Role
This is a crucial role within the Engineering leadership team, ensuring the engineering team runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. It involves managing a team, coordinating resources, and ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Provide line management for engineers and vessel appearance teams, supported by sub-contractors, to maximize engineering productivity.
- Ensure the delivery of the plan and document reasons for any deviations.
- Develop, document, and maintain processes, procedures, and guidelines for safety and quality standards.
- Manage and monitor maintenance activities, ensuring completion in line with the agreed plan and accurate recording on Centrik.
- Manage and maintain contractor relationships as allocated by HOD.
- Ensure all work packages are completed in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide and promote the highest level of customer service.
- Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team, and business performance.
- Ensure speedy and accurate communication of relevant information.
- Ensure effective and efficient utilization of materials and resources to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Act as deputy to the Head of Engineering and Vessel Appearance.
- Undertake other relevant duties or reasonable requests from HOD or senior management.
- Assist with general engineering departmental functions, including holiday cover, Centrik, stock system management, and liaising with finance on budget performance.
- Identify barriers to change and develop solutions to enable change.
- Continuously seek improvements in personal, team, business processes, environmental standards, and overall business performance, focusing on safety, quality, and customer experience.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a transport-regulated engineering organization.
- Experience managing engineers or technical teams.
- Relevant experience working in high-pressure environments while maintaining high levels of safety and maintenance practices.
- Familiarization with the management of ISM compliance.
- Familiarization with the IMO High Speed Craft Code.
- Previous experience and knowledge working to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards.
