About the Role

Ndustrial is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the design and development of their Nsight Energy Intensity Platform, encompassing frontend, APIs, backend services, and AI capabilities. This full-stack role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver intelligent, customer-focused solutions in the industrial IoT space, with an emphasis on leveraging AI-assisted tools for design, development, and product innovation.

Responsibilities

Drive features from designs and loosely-defined problems to completion, defining scope and making critical build decisions.
Lead technical and architectural decision-making, building consensus and making final calls.
Develop and maintain customer-facing features across UI, APIs, backend services, and data models.
Design and evolve database schemas and data models for the multi-tenant Nsight platform.
Develop scalable, secure APIs for traditional and AI-driven product capabilities.
Partner with Product, UX, and Data teams to translate user needs into technical solutions and intelligent product experiences.
Utilize AI-assisted tools and workflows for designing, building, testing, documenting, and operating software.
Actively participate in planning, design, and code reviews, raising concerns and setting standards for AI-assisted engineering.
Evaluate, prototype, and implement AI-powered features and workflows for customer value.
Build internal AI tools, agents, and automations to enhance engineering and business operations.
Resolve production issues using traditional debugging and AI-assisted analysis.
Stay current with AI engineering advancements and promote adoption of best practices.
Mentor teammates and improve the overall effectiveness of the engineering organization.

Requirements

7+ years of professional software development experience.
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, preferably in a startup.
Proven ability to independently define and build solutions from ambiguous problems or designs.
Proficiency in using AI tools (e.g., Claude) for wireframing, mockups, and translating them into production-ready interfaces.
Clear and outspoken communication skills for articulating technical positions and leading decisions.
Strong frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
Strong API design experience with REST or GraphQL.
Solid experience with relational databases and schema design (PostgreSQL/SQL preferred).
Demonstrated use of modern AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) in daily workflows.
Experience in an AI-first development environment, including prompt-driven development, AI-assisted testing, code generation, and leveraging AI agents.
Full-stack capability, comfortable working across frontend, API, and data layers.
Backend experience in Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Java, or Kotlin.
Strong product mindset, balancing technical excellence, speed, and customer value.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule in the downtown Raleigh office.
Experience with operational and deployment tooling (e.g., Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD pipelines) is a plus.
Experience with stream processing and event-driven architectures (e.g., Pulsar, Kafka) is a plus.
Experience integrating LLMs, AI services, or agent-based workflows into applications is a plus.
