About the Role
Waymo is seeking an individual to join the AI Foundations team, focusing on developing machine learning solutions for autonomous driving. This role involves building and operating large-scale data systems and ML pipelines to advance foundation model development for the Waymo Driver.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate petabyte-scale data systems and ML pipelines for foundation model development.
- Shepherd cutting-edge foundation models from research prototypes to robust components within the Waymo Driver.
- Develop automated, high-performance infrastructure for efficient rollout of data solutions.
- Process massive datasets using large-scale compute and frameworks like Flume/Beam and JAX for model training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Drive significant improvements in the speed, reliability, and efficiency of the end-to-end ML development lifecycle.
- Partner with experts in AI Foundations, ML, and Platform to translate model innovations into product improvements.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in Python and C++.
- Experience building or maintaining large-scale data pipelines or ML infrastructure (e.g., Flume, Spark, Borg, Kubeflow).
- Strong hands-on SWE skills, capable of driving development of large, complex shared codebases.
