About the Role

Austin Regional Clinic is one of central Texas’ largest professional medical groups with 35+ locations and is continuing to grow. We are seeking a Staff Medical Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and completely report and document status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, and contacts with patients and/or other healthcare providers.
• Refill medication following the ARC refill protocols.
• Accurately and completely room patients, take and document vital signs, and prepare patients for provider examination.
• Follow clinic protocols and directions given by nursing team leader or supervisor.
• Perform diagnostic testing including EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings with appropriate reporting and documentation.
• Monitor inventory of medical and/or office supplies and equipment, ensuring proper stocking and that supplies are current and not expired. Order supplies as needed.
• Review Provider refill in basket and assist with daily medication refill requests using the ARC refill protocol.
• Review EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
• Clean patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry.
• Ensure laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens daily.
• Assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after the exam. Report and document appropriately.
• Maintain equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc.).
• Adhere to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
• Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
• Follow the core competencies set forth by the Company.
• Work holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.
• Provide patients with educational materials as directed.
• Administer medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice as demonstrated by completion of training and testing.
• Review result note in basket and call/inform patients of normal lab results.
• Review provider instructions regarding abnormal results.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet one of the following: Medical Assistant experience, CNA/EMT/PCT (or other comparable experience) providing direct patient care beyond Activities of Daily Living, including experience taking manual vitals and giving medications and/or injections, or Graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Ability to administer medications & injections within scope of position within 90 days of hire.

• Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.
