About the Role

The Finance Project Manager is an integral part of the Finance team, ensuring project finance reporting is accurate and sincere according to Alstom rules. This role supports the Project Manager in controlling and managing project finances, effectively handling risks and opportunities. The position requires a strong, proven level of experience, agility, and adaptability for a fast-paced project environment with rapidly changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the economic and financial advisor to the Project Manager.
  • Prepare periodic Project Reviews with relevant financial analysis alongside the Project Manager.
  • Control and optimize project results through close collaboration with the Project Manager and Work Package Owners/Project Sub-system Managers.
  • Challenge the estimate to complete to maximize project margin and ensure all risks are mitigated.
  • Ensure timely customer invoicing and actively pursue payment within due dates.
  • Manage cash and implement cash improvement actions on the project, promoting a cash culture.
  • Manage project bonds and hedging to limit exposure, collaborating with the financial accountant.
  • Provide Project financial reporting (orders, forecasts, weekly cash) for month-end, forecast, budget processes, and sector requests.
  • Review and analyze all Balance Sheet items linked to the project.
  • Handle claims administration, including documentation and reports.
  • Review contract database data for all units for compliance with SPR decisions.
  • Participate in project meetings, risk analysis meetings, and financial/contractual decision-making.
  • Provide financial guidance and leadership to Project Managers for all Project Review submissions.
  • Control the tender process, ensuring estimates are well-supported and signed off, and costs are collected per company rules.
  • Provide financial guidance and leadership to the tender team for timely cost build-up to maximize future cash.
  • Comply with and undertake all relevant Environment, Health & Safety measures and activities.

Requirements

  • ACCA / CIMA/ACA Qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Project Controlling experience is required.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be extremely numerate with exceptional knowledge of accounting and finance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken) with people at different levels.
  • Must be able to work autonomously (self-motivated).
  • Confident to work effectively as a team member to coordinate and ensure reporting consistency.
  • Able to influence and instil confidence in stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Able to organise and prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to use and have previous experience of integrated financial systems.
  • Flexible to travel to project sites when necessary.
