About the Role
As a Principal Machine Learning Engineer, you will be the definitive technical authority on ML engineering, setting the standard for designing, building, and scaling AI systems. You will own the architectural vision for complex programs, influence organizational engineering strategy, and partner with senior leadership and clients. This role involves shaping engineering culture, elevating team capabilities, and ensuring robust technical foundations.
Responsibilities
- Defining and owning the organization-wide technical vision for ML engineering, establishing architectural standards and engineering practices.
- Overseeing the end-to-end delivery of flagship, business-critical ML programs.
- Driving the strategic adoption of new technologies, platforms, and ways of working.
- Cultivating senior engineering talent, coaching leads and managers, and building capability pipelines.
- Acting as the principal technical voice in C-suite and executive client engagements, shaping AI strategy.
- Leading on significant sales and pre-sales opportunities, providing architectural authority.
- Partnering with Data Science, Commercial, and Infrastructure leadership to align ML engineering strategy with business goals.
Requirements
- Recognized ML engineering authority with deep expertise across multiple domains.
- Mastery of Python and a proven track record of designing and operationalizing production-grade ML systems at scale.
- Expertise across multiple major Cloud Solution Providers and experience setting architectural direction for complex AI platforms.
- Deep expertise in containerization, orchestration, and MLOps at scale.
- Proven track record of developing senior engineering talent, coaching leads and managers, and shaping high-performance engineering cultures.
- Visible external profile through publications, conference contributions, or open-source leadership.
- Ability to operate at the executive level, translating complex ML engineering decisions into commercial outcomes.
- Ability to proactively shape the strategic direction of client engagements.
