About the Role

As Head of Credit Systems & Strategy, you will own the intelligence layer that powers Lumi's automated lending decisions. This senior leadership role manages a team of 5 and sits at the intersection of credit risk, data science, and technology, responsible for the performance, evolution, and governance of our decisioning infrastructure across all products and markets.

Responsibilities

  • Translate credit risk strategy into automated decisioning logic, ensuring system parameters reflect the company's risk appetite and commercial objectives.
  • Own and evolve the automated assessment framework across all Lumi products, balancing risk and reward.
  • Develop and execute a roadmap for decisioning capability, from incremental optimisation to the design of new systems.
  • Identify and implement AI and technology-driven solutions to improve decision quality, increase straight-through processing rates, and reduce time to outcome.
  • Lead credit systems strategy for new market and product entry, defining risk tolerance, piloting new decision frameworks, and scaling proven approaches.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on system performance, portfolio health, and strategic decisioning initiatives.
  • Calibrate scorecard cut-offs and ensure modelling approach and usage align with business use cases and segment appetite.
  • Monitor and manage the ongoing performance of automated decisioning, tracking approval rates, bad rates, policy compliance, and model stability.
  • Maintain robust governance including documentation, validation frameworks, and change controls for all decisioning logic.
  • Ensure decisioning systems comply with credit risk policy and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee QA and audit processes for automated decisions.
  • Define and maintain performance KPIs for the automated channel.
  • Partner with Product and Technology teams on transformation roadmaps, translating credit risk requirements into system specifications.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure automated and manual decisioning processes are complementary.
  • Collaborate with Data Science and Analytics functions to maintain data quality, develop model inputs, and build reporting infrastructure.
  • Lead change management and training for internal stakeholders on decisioning logic and system capabilities.
  • Align the credit systems roadmap with the strategies of other leadership roles.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing specialist team, building capability and clear accountability.
  • Manage team capacity and resource allocation to deliver against the systems roadmap while maintaining BAU performance.
  • Champion data quality and evidence-based decision-making as core team values.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in credit risk, automated decisioning, or lending analytics, ideally within SME or business lending.
  • Demonstrated track record owning and improving automated credit decision systems, scorecards, or policy rules engines.
  • Experience designing risk frameworks and decision logic for new credit products or market segments.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics in a lending or financial services context.
  • Strong understanding of model governance and regulatory obligations relevant to Australian lending.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technology and data projects from requirements through to deployment and BAU handover.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop specialist teams in data-heavy environments.
  • Confident executive communication skills, able to translate complex decisioning concepts into clear narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A commercial mindset focused on profitable growth within a risk appetite.
