About the Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll build the cloud infrastructure, tooling, and CI/CD pipelines that Pet Circle's engineering squads use to deliver at speed on a platform they can trust. This is a building role focused on designing for scale on Google Cloud Platform, automating manual processes, and owning your area broadly.
Responsibilities
- Build Pet Circle's cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, designing for scale, reliability and security
- Drive infrastructure-as-code with Terraform (Pulumi is transferable), ensuring the environment is reproducible and auditable
- Build, maintain, and speed up CI/CD pipelines for engineering squad deployments
- Containerize and run services with Docker
- Own observability, monitoring, alerting, and logging to proactively identify and address issues
- Embed with engineering squads to understand friction points and build a platform roadmap for easier shipping
- Strengthen Pet Circle's security and disaster recovery, including security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and identity and access management
- Identify and plan the removal of high-risk legacy components
- Prepare CI/CD, observability, and security for upcoming AI features
- Support cloud cost efficiency through right-sizing and optimizing GCP spend
- Respond to production incidents and lead follow-up actions to prevent recurrence
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience
- Strong experience with Cloudflare
- Experience using AI in work processes (e.g., writing infrastructure code, debugging pipelines, analyzing logs, generating runbooks)
- Infrastructure-as-code experience in production with Terraform (Pulumi is transferable), including state management
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines used by real teams for deployment, such as GitHub Actions (GitLab is transferable)
- Hands-on experience with Docker
- Experience building and improving security and disaster recovery, with a natural inclination towards least-privilege principles
- Experienced engineer who has learned from past issues and is energized by building platforms
- Comfortable in a lean team, owning broadly rather than specializing narrowly
- Clear communication with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to partner well across teams
