About the Role
As a legal assistant, you will support attorneys in managing case files and ensuring the smooth operation of the law office. Your core skills in litigation, document review, and legal tasks will be essential for preparing legal documents and maintaining case management systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, will aid in your daily responsibilities. With your attention to detail and organizational skills, you will contribute significantly to the efficiency of the legal team and the overall success of our practice.
Responsibilities
- Provide insurance defense litigation support.
- Draft, finalize, and serve pleadings, discovery documents, notices, stipulations, briefs, motions, affidavits, and RJI's.
- Edit legal documents, ensuring accuracy.
- Prepare reports for insurance carriers.
- Assist with document productions and redactions.
- Assist with the preparation of witness/exhibit lists and trial binders.
- Assist with the retention of expert witnesses, preparation of expert indexes, and production of records.
- Communicate with clients and coordinate with support services, opposing law firms, and courts.
- Handle e-filing and e-service in State and Federal courts.
- Manage cases and calendars for assigned caseloads.
- Organize and maintain case files, including electronic files and document management systems.
- Enter and manage information in databases and spreadsheets.
- Update attorney case lists.
- Perform additional administrative duties.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of prior legal assistant experience in a law office.
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel & Adobe Acrobat.
- High typing proficiency with excellent grammatical accuracy.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
- Skilled in preparing, reviewing, and finalizing legal documents with meticulous attention to accuracy, formatting, and compliance with filing and service procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic filings in State and Federal Courts.
- Eager to learn, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
