About the Role
Amber is seeking a dedicated People & Talent Partner for its European team, marking the first dedicated people hire in the region. This hands-on, generalist role is crucial for scaling the European operations, supporting a team of under 20 FTE with ambitions to double in the next 12 months. The role involves managing recruitment, HR operations, and ensuring a positive employee experience, working closely with the Australian People Operations team.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day HR inquiries, including leave, payroll, performance, and engagement.
- Facilitate seamless onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Research and apply UK and European employment law, engaging external advisors when necessary.
- Coach leaders on performance, engagement, and team dynamics.
- Manage employee relations, including formal performance improvement, disciplinary procedures, and investigations.
- Localize core people processes (onboarding, performance, engagement) for the European context.
- Address ad hoc people-related queries via Inbox and Slack.
- Benchmark and manage local compensation and benefits, including pension and private health providers.
- Maintain and manage the HRIS (Rippling) for the European team.
- Create and maintain process documentation for self-service by employees and managers.
- Develop and maintain workplace policies compliant with local legal requirements.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for European roles, from brief scoping to offer.
- Oversee job postings, maintain the ATS, and ensure a positive candidate experience with thoughtful feedback.
- Build strong relationships with hiring managers to understand team needs.
- Partner with the AU team to ensure European hires align with Amber's culture and standards.
- Engage and coordinate recruitment partners or specialist agencies as needed.
- Contribute to building Amber’s employer brand in the European market.
- Partner with managers to organize events and foster team connection.
- Support the local execution of the employee engagement program.
- Build strong relationships with managers and employees, bridging AU and European teams.
- Assist with broader People Operations projects as required.
Requirements
- Mid-level generalist People Ops, HR, or People & Talent experience.
- Working knowledge of UK employment law.
- Proven experience managing formal ER processes end-to-end in a UK or European context.
- Ability to conduct coaching conversations with managers on performance, engagement, or team dynamics.
- Experience contributing to people process improvements (e.g., performance management, engagement, onboarding).
- Experience engaging with and supporting senior and executive-level stakeholders.
- Decisive and collaborative approach.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Hands-on recruitment experience managing full hiring processes across different functions.
- Experience managing an HRIS and/or ATS from the back-end.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and building trust at all levels.
