About the Role
This field-based role supports the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapy group in surgical coverage, follow-up, support, troubleshooting, customer service, and education within a territory. The candidate will reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts, requiring a valid driver's license. This position educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel, and staff on technical aspects of Medtronic's products and therapies.
Responsibilities
- Conducts on-site education and/or consulting.
- Supports field personnel in providing the best possible outcomes and service for Medtronic customers.
- Participates in conventions, forums, and meetings to increase product awareness.
- Works closely with the DBS Sales and Clinical teams to provide customer case coverage and sales support.
- Serves as a technical resource to support sales of a specific medical product or solution.
- Maintains current knowledge about assigned products and services as well as competitive products.
- Proactively identifies needs and teaches a broader level of caregivers and account employees for new and existing accounts.
- Educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on technical matters relating to our products and therapies.
- Functions using healthcare universal precautions to minimize exposure to infectious disease and radiation.
- Serves as the primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events, periodically working weekends, evenings, and nights.
- Engages in overnight travel within own district or neighboring districts as needed.
- Works efficiently and autonomously with little direction when outside of clinical events.
- Attends national meetings, district meetings, and other training as requested.
- Wears a 7-9 lbs protective lead apron for extended periods in the operating room.
- Lifts up to 40 lbs.
- Sits, stands, and/or walks for 8+ hours per day.
- Bends/stoops, squats, and balances frequently.
- Performs duties requiring specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED AND a minimum of 8 years of clinical or medical sales experience; OR Associate Degree with a minimum 6 years of clinical or medical sales experience; OR A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy.
- Driving record will be reviewed and considered as part of the application.
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
- Candidates for roles below the Principal level require unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
Skills
- Clinical experience with implantable neurological products and patient care
- Servicing medical personnel on product use
- Experience with a medical device company or pharmaceutical company
- Clinical experience in a specialty area: neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, operating room, pain management, or home health care
- Understanding of basic reimbursement and healthcare environment
