About the Role

Join the Service Assurance Systems (SAS) Group to develop and maintain software systems that support Viasat's global network operations. You will work in a small team to evolve monitoring capabilities, ensuring world-class performance for existing and future services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support software applications within the SAS group.
• Collaborate with users to understand requirements and develop new features.
• Organize and present design and code reviews.
• Provide written and verbal progress reports.
• Maintain a conscientious approach to testing and documentation.
• Work with engineering divisions to design interfaces for monitoring and service information.
• Interact with Operations, Product Management, and Customer Support to resolve issues and bugs.
• Enhance and maintain software supporting Billing and Assurance streams.
• Coordinate with Billing and IT Operational teams to define operational solutions.
• Support Billing and Assurance teams with fault finding and diagnosis.
• Liaise with engineering divisions regarding service changes.
• Provide on-call support for operational systems.

Requirements

• BSc in Computer Science or a technical/engineering field.
• Strong background in hands-on Java development in a real-time operational environment.
• Strong experience in Javascript/Nodejs development.
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of IP networks and network troubleshooting tools like Wireshark.
• Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Practical experience with the full software development lifecycle.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Understanding of IT and network security best practices.
• Experience in documenting software development work.
• Experience in Object Oriented Analysis and design using common design patterns.
