About the Role

Planet is seeking a Global Supply Manager in San Francisco, CA, to serve as a liaison with suppliers and drive supply chain improvements to meet company objectives. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with a procurement background in high-mix-low-volume environments, acting at the intersection of business, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and finance to enable successful production.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic procurement for suppliers, including developing purchasing plans, mitigating long lead POs, and ensuring material availability.
  • Define, measure, and drive improvements in key performance metrics like OKR fulfillment, cost reductions, and strategic vendor management.
  • Drive and manage costs for assigned programs, representing Supply Chain in Program Spend reviews.
  • Analyze component lifecycle status or production costs and influence engineering teams for design updates.
  • Collaborate with supply planners and EPMs to manage supply to meet demand, expedite deliveries, and own vendor relationships.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in a production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience partnering with Engineering and manufacturing leads to onboard suppliers, equipment, and capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, with attention to detail and comfort working with numbers.
  • Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and multi-task while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to analyze, create, and manage complex structured BOMs and configurations.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications.
