About the Role

As a key member of the Service team, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Foreman plays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively. This role involves leading and mentoring mechanics, providing technical support, and ensuring quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with the service manager to coordinate tasks and oversee department activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair times and quality of work.
  • Review work orders and parts requests to ensure repairs meet quality standards.
  • Prepare and present accurate repair quotes to customers.
  • Lead and mentor mechanics and QA staff through technical support and teaching.
  • Act as a technical advisor on major repairs and provide troubleshooting support.
  • Assist mechanics with repairs as needed.
  • Ensure technicians meet production goals and expectations.
  • Provide daily production, safety, and updated work order reports to the service manager.
  • Train, support, and emphasize company initiatives for improving repair and turnaround times.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments for timely repairs and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and efficient work environment.
  • Follow all workplace safety protocols and environmentally sound practices.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
  • Ensure team members adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Help integrate new mechanics into the shop and ensure they follow procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic (421A, 310T) with strong diagnostic and failure analysis skills.
  • Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT.
  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and a knack for making customers feel valued.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage daily schedules, coordinate materials and equipment, and monitor inventory.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered an asset).
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up to 50lbs.
  • A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield’s health and safety policies.
  • A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.
  • A Licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Preferred).
  • Flexibility to support on-call schedules and adapt to business demands.
  • Hydraulic system knowledge.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
  • Ownership of personal tools required for the role.
