About the Role

The Podiatrist at Whitney Young Health provides specialized care in the examination, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of foot disorders, both medically and surgically. This role ensures a safe environment and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • See patients for podiatric problems including corns, calluses, warts, bunions, hammertoes, fungus nails, fungal skin diseases, ingrown toenails, pedal tumors, heel spurs, athlete’s foot, and Morton’s neuroma.
  • Identify and consult on systemic diseases manifesting in the foot, such as diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, heart disease, arthritis, gout, and arteriosclerosis, collaborating with primary care physicians.
  • Participate in continuing medical education and quality assurance programs.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and ensure a safe, confidential environment.
  • Complete required Medical Record documentation using EHR.
  • Comply with CMS’s Meaningful Use measures.
  • Inform patients of delays.
  • Maintain required licenses.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate excellence in customer service.
  • Communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance, and client confidentiality.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals.

Requirements

  • Pre-science degree, college level.
  • Successful completion of a four-year course from an accredited college of podiatric medicine.
  • Certification from either a national or state examining board for podiatric medicine.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service, good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of managed care requirements.
  • Elective one to three-year residency program for specialized surgical training.
  • One to three years clinical experience.
  • Board certification in Podiatric Surgery.
