About the Role

Drives strategy development and execution by overseeing and managing the Ready Mix, Aggregates and Asphalt business, including health and safety, operations, sales and marketing, finance, sustainability, and land & environment. Focuses on safety culture, operational excellence, customer centricity, financial performance, and sustainability advancement. Leads by example, supervises, coaches, mentors, and ensures employee productivity and a positive working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers strategic leadership and management practices to support the company’s business strategy.
  • Communicates and demonstrates company vision, values, and strategies.
  • Promotes health and safety, environmental, and compliance requirements.
  • Creates and enforces a culture of health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
  • Ensures safe working environments and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintains positive relations with employees, customers, suppliers, and the community.
  • Assures adherence to applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Ensures quality through evaluation of the production process, material inputs and outputs.
  • Partners with support functions to ensure the highest quality product delivery.
  • Partners with Regional Management on the development of overall objectives and long-range goals/strategies.
  • Translates and cascades objectives to measurable goals for direct reports.
  • Monitors actions and is accountable for the execution of approved strategies.
  • Maintains positive employer-employee relationships contributing to productivity, motivation, and morale.
  • Prevents and resolves employee problems.
  • Motivates, coaches, and mentors employees to build effective teams.
  • Develops staffing plans.
  • Manages personnel, including recruitment, supervision, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals, and terminations.
  • Prioritizes staff workloads to meet product needs/objectives.
  • Develops and trains staff to ensure high skill levels.
  • Partners with Human Resources on employee development and succession planning.
  • Understands customer needs and positions the company to profitably meet mutual needs.
  • Provides excellent customer service by addressing issues, questions, or concerns promptly.
  • Builds long-lasting customer relationships.
  • Assesses market opportunities and develops annual business plans.
  • Establishes sales goals.
  • Develops market expectations for sales and marketing functions.
  • Ensures execution of sales strategies to develop new opportunities, increase market share, and promote profitable sales growth.
  • Supports the Region in achieving overall P&L targets.
  • Collaborates with other regional product lines to leverage resources.
  • Responsible for the attainment of revenue and profit goals for the division.
  • Ensures adherence to budget and optimizes processes for operational effectiveness.
  • Oversees and directs the preparation of operating budgets.
  • Conducts operations reviews to assess cost drivers impacting financials.
  • Monitors and controls operational volumes, capacity, material use, and inventory data.
  • Reviews financial statements, operations, cost reports, and key performance indicators.
  • Manages capital expenditures.
  • Ensures a culture built with honesty, integrity, and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and exhibits safety behaviors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction materials sector, including experience in health and safety, production, distribution, quality, and commercial departments.
  • Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Frequent travel to company and customer sites and within the US for corporate projects. Travel overseas might sometimes be required.
  • Proven record of enhancements and success in health, safety, and environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully and effectively organize, manage, and lead an organization of diverse disciplines.
  • Creativity in approaches used to develop and direct short- and long-range planning and development programs.
  • High-level strategic vision.
  • Strongly driven by results.
  • Excellent communication/leadership skills.
  • Excellent people skills and strong potential for strong leadership development.

  • Demonstrated ability to delegate and obtain results through others.
  • Experience with land transactions and environmental compliance.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
  • Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
