About the Role
A global healthcare company seeks a hands-on Finance Manager to lead the Japan finance function. This role oversees accounting, reporting, cash management, budgeting, and internal controls, requiring both strategic business partnering and day-to-day operational involvement to support business growth and improve financial governance.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly and annual closing processes with external accounting partners.
- Prepare financial reporting packages for regional and global headquarters.
- Support statutory reporting and compliance requirements.
- Manage budgeting and forecasting across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis and business insights.
- Support cost management and departmental spending reviews.
- Oversee cash management, payment approvals, and daily financial operations.
- Ensure purchasing and approval processes align with company policies and controls.
- Partner with internal stakeholders on inventory accounting and operational controls.
- Monitor KPIs related to inventory and working capital efficiency.
- Oversee AR/AP processes and support credit risk management.
- Coordinate tax and audit activities with external advisors and headquarters.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and governance processes.
- Support compliance with local and global financial standards.
- Act as a strategic finance partner to local leadership.
- Collaborate closely with global finance stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Lead and support finance-related personnel in Japan.
- Contribute hands-on across finance activities within a lean business environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on finance experience within multinational or foreign-affiliated companies.
- Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Experience working with external accounting firms and auditors.
- Understanding of internal controls and governance frameworks.
- Prior people management or team leadership experience.
- Hands-on and proactive, with strong ownership mindset.
- Able to balance operational execution with strategic thinking.
- Comfortable working in lean, fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
