About the Role

J.S. Held is seeking an experienced Managing Consultant to join our Strategy & Risk Advisory team to help drive the growth of our practice across Eurasia. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven individual with a well-rounded skill set to join the expanding Strategy & Risk Advisory team within the Global Risk practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver business intelligence and risk advisory projects across Eurasia, with a particular focus on due diligence investigations and government relations support.
• Develop and maintain deep regional, country, and sector-specific expertise across key Eurasian markets.
• Contribute to the growth of J.S. Held’s client base within the region.
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships, effectively managing and executing client account plans.
• Proactively identify business development opportunities and collaborate with senior colleagues to establish new client relationships.
• Support marketing initiatives, including the development of high-quality thought leadership.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key public sector stakeholders across the region.
• Represent J.S. Held at relevant industry events and provide expert commentary to media outlets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university in a relevant discipline, such as international relations, political science, economics, history, languages, or area studies.
• Between four and seven years’ experience managing and/or conducting complex, region-specific business intelligence and risk advisory projects, particularly those relating to integrity due diligence, political analysis, and stakeholder mapping.
• Strong understanding of the political, economic, and commercial dynamics across Eurasia, gained through relevant professional experience and/or having lived or worked in the region.
• Existing networks of public and private sector contacts across Eurasia (e.g., government officials, journalists, business leaders), with a willingness to actively expand these networks.
• High levels of initiative, adaptability, and a proactive, self-starting mindset.
• Ability to operate with discretion, sound judgement, and diplomatic sensitivity in complex environments.
• Experience in or exposure to business development, with a strong interest in contributing to the growth of J.S. Held’s client base.
• Must be willing to travel internationally, as needed (20-25%)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to produce clear, concise client reports under tight deadlines
• Additional regional languages (e.g., Russian, Turkish, Central Asian languages, or Eastern European languages) are advantageous
