About the Role

Functions as the property’s strategic financial business leader, championing and implementing strategies to meet or exceed customer and employee expectations. The role provides financial expertise to maximize return on investment and executes a business plan aligned with property and brand strategies, focusing on financial and accounting activities to achieve desirable financial results.

Responsibilities

  • Develops strategies to improve profit, including estimating cost and benefit, and exploring new business opportunities.
  • Analyzes information, forecasts sales against expenses, and creates annual budget plans.
  • Compiles and analyzes sales data, monitoring actual sales against projected sales.
  • Analyzes budget wage variances for efficient planning.
  • Identifies underlying principles, reasons, or facts by breaking down information.
  • Develops, executes, and implements new business plans creatively and practically.
  • Creates the annual operating budget for the property.
  • Provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
  • Implements appropriate controls to manage business risks.
  • Ensures a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations, and profitability.
  • Analyzes financial data and market trends.
  • Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with company and brand strategy.
  • Provides ongoing analytical support by monitoring operating department's actual and projected sales.
  • Produces accurate forecasts to enable operational adjustments.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others.
  • Communicates strategic goals, focus, and owner priorities clearly.
  • Leverages functional leadership and communication skills to influence the executive team and lead own team.
  • Oversees internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
  • Assigns clear accountability and appropriate authority to team members and managers.
  • Conducts annual performance appraisals with direct reports.
  • Attends meetings and communicates with owners to understand priorities and strategic focus.
  • Understands and meets the needs of key stakeholders, including owners, corporate, and guests.
  • Advises the GM and executive committee on operating and financial issues.
  • Communicates financial concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrates understanding of cash flow and owner priorities.
  • Manages communication with owners effectively.
  • Manages property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand SOPs and owner requirements.
  • Facilitates critique meetings to review information with the management team.
  • Ensures Profits and Losses are documented accurately.
  • Monitors taxes, ensuring they are current, collected, and/or accrued.
  • Submits reports in a timely manner, meeting delivery deadlines.
  • Develops and supports the achievement of performance, budget, and team goals.
  • Improves profit growth in operating departments.
  • Reviews audit issues for accuracy.
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in reports and presentations.
  • Reconciles balance sheets to ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Ensures the P&L is accurate, with costs properly matched to revenue and recorded in the correct accounts.
  • Ensures compliance with management contract and reporting requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with standard and local operating procedures.
  • Ensures new hires participate in department orientation and receive appropriate training.
  • Creates development plans for team members based on strengths, needs, and aspirations.
  • Participates in hiring activities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or related major; 2 years experience in the finance and accounting or related professional area.
  • Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting or related major; no work experience required.
