About the Role

Join an innovative, collaborative development environment and help build secure data access and connectivity capabilities as part of SAP’s Big Data Fabric Services (BDFS). We are looking for a Platform Engineer who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to modern platform engineering in the SAP Data Accelerator and broader BDFS context. We do not work as data scientists analyzing or extracting data directly. We build the platform capabilities that make this possible.

Responsibilities

Contribute to design, coding, testing, operability, and quality assurance in a development team.
Assess and solve issues in new or existing code with high attention to detail, reliability, and efficiency.
Collaborate closely with team members to ensure success.
Work on design, coding, and quality assurance tasks related to specific product features.
Help build reliable, production-ready platform capabilities with strong engineering fundamentals.
Development activities in Java, Python, and Go, with Rust as a plus.
Work in an agile team that uses the Scrum framework to self-organize and work towards development goals.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering.
Advanced or fluent English.
Excellent programming skills and knowledge of algorithms, data structures, space, and run-time complexity (Big-O notation).
Hands-on programming skills in Java, Python, or Go.
Foundational knowledge of cloud-native development and Kubernetes-based environments.
Foundational knowledge of networking concepts relevant to distributed systems and cloud environments.
Foundational understanding of REST APIs, observability, and automated testing in distributed systems.
Interest in building secure connectivity and data access services for SAP enterprise landscapes.
Knowledge of AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools, and the ability to use them effectively across the software development lifecycle.
Willingness to take ownership, drive new developments, and work creatively on challenging and groundbreaking tasks in accordance with the highest technical standards, plus a high level of commitment, team spirit, flexibility, and initiative.
Ability to troubleshoot complex software issues leveraging technical and product skills.
Familiarity with design patterns, Clean Code, continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD), code review, and test-driven development (TDD) is desired.
Ability to quickly learn new areas of knowledge.
