About the Role

The role involves the design and analysis of battery packs, leading multi-discipline engineering teams, and making key decisions to bring a portfolio of Re:Build battery packs to market. This position covers all program cycles from concept design through testing, utilizing performance simulations, creating CAD models, and presenting results to customers and partners. Collaboration with program management, analysis, procurement, and manufacturing teams is essential, requiring strong presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product design and development for industry changing Re:Build battery packs.
  • Communicate across engineering teams to make program critical decisions.
  • Identify core issues, develop solutions, and effectively communicate the impacts across internal and external teams.
  • Create and deliver CAD models and presentations to customers.
  • Develop supporting material for design such as bill of materials, assembly, or installation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to standards and battery pack performance needs.
  • Work multi-functionally to verify battery software and hardware meet the system needs and battery pack requirements.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of system design for lithium-ion battery packs or related technologies.
  • Minimum 6 years of engineering experience for automotive, aerospace, industrial or related industries.
  • Experience in design, developing and testing of battery systems for electrified propulsion or stationary energy storage.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including strong technical communication.
  • Self-directed with strong leadership, team building, collaboration, organizational skills, and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Basic understanding of UL, or similar, and regulatory certification processes.
  • Proficient with CAD programs such as Catia or Solidworks
  • Familiar with analysis packages such as FEMAP and NASTRAN (or equivalent)
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar with strong emphasis on practical work.
  • M.S. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar with strong emphasis on practical work.
  • 4 or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience with BMS software development and control algorithms.
  • Experience with mathematical modeling of batteries or experimental work in the field of batteries.
