About the Role

Freenow by Lyft empowers smarter mobility decisions, helping people move freely and cities thrive. We’re looking for a dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our Passenger and Driver Care team. In this role you will rebuild a team to ship customer and driver support automations, build AI assist features and lead certain integrations, while working with talented frontend, backend and AI engineers. Responsibilities

Ensure a sustainable delivery of your team while giving transparency, making pragmatic trade-offs and motivating the team with your positive energy
Integrate and collaborate with other disciplines and other tech leads as one team
Develop and improve processes and software development techniques together with your team
Help your software engineers to grow: Help them with their weaknesses and foster their strengths, provide frequent feedback and set goals
Foster autonomy in decisions and processes of your squad
Work with the recruiting team: Not only on attracting but also on retaining and onboarding new team members

Requirements

Strong software engineering background, building software systems for multiple years, ideally with Java or Kotlin
Familiarity with financial processes such as charging customers, creating invoices, providing data to accounting
Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively guide and motivate your team
Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, and fostering a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and collaboration within your team
Structured and transparent communication style, polite but clear
Growth mindset and ability to adapt quickly to change
Creative problem-solver, enjoying finding innovative solutions to challenging engineering problems
Interest in leveraging LLMs to build the best customer and driver support experience
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
