About the Role

The CAD Designer will manage and create project documentation using CAD, spanning all project lifecycle phases from requirements gathering to closing. This includes developing and utilizing 3D CAD models and point cloud data for brownfield design, layout development, and spatial validation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex drawings, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment layouts.
  • Update existing drawings to reflect system modifications.
  • Check and revise own drawings for accuracy.
  • Perform field measurements as needed.
  • Conduct basic calculations for material requirements.
  • Check vendor design drawings against specifications.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions.
  • Provide technical assistance during equipment start-up and maintenance.
  • Direct contractors and in-plant labor on project implementation.
  • Complete assignments accurately and professionally.
  • Maintain orderly drawing and file systems.
  • Stay current with discipline advancements and evaluate new technologies.
  • Carry out additional duties as required.
  • Develop and manage AutoCAD 2D and 3D models for project delivery.
  • Use AutoCAD Plant 3D according to company work instructions.
  • Work with point cloud models to extract geometry and develop brownfield layouts.
  • Evaluate spatial constraints and interferences using point cloud data.
  • Convert 3D and point cloud data into simplified 2D deliverables.
  • Generate and support isometric drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).

Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills, fluent in AutoCAD and MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with personnel management and supervision.
  • Strong desire to work on and research diverse projects.
  • Familiarity with GMP, SQF, NFPA, ANSI, and ASTM guidelines.
  • Experience with OSHA standards.
  • Working knowledge of PD5500 and mechanical inspection & testing.
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
  • Strong capability in AutoCAD 3D modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems and structural layouts in industrial environments.
  • Ability to interpret and work with point cloud datasets.
  • Strong spatial awareness to assess brownfield constraints and interfaces.
  • Ability to balance model complexity with usability according to CAD standards.
