About the Role

koppla is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and develop its engineering team, partnering closely with the VP Product and CEO to ensure the team's growth, success, and continued delivery of a high-quality product.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the dedicated people leader for engineers across all seniority levels.
• Develop the engineering team, refine workflows, and ensure retention and growth of talented individuals.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, provide direct feedback, and manage career development for all engineers.
• Enhance delivery, processes, and purposeful AI adoption.
• Provide hands-on guidance and maintain technical proximity to support junior engineers and contribute to technical discussions.
• Foster collaboration between Product and Engineering teams, integrating engineers into product development and vice versa.
• Ensure context is shared across teams and no critical knowledge is siloed.
• Actively participate in engineering hiring, including closing open roles and assessing technical talent.

Requirements

• Experienced hands-on people manager with a strong engineering background and a people-first mindset.
• Prior engineering management experience in a startup, preferably in a Seed/Series A/B or similar environment.
• Solid engineering foundation with experience as a senior individual contributor.
• Proven ability to build strong engineers who have been promoted or taken on broader scope.
• Proactive and high-energy operator with an organized workstyle and the drive to advance multiple initiatives without adding bureaucracy.
• Clear communicator, fluent in written and spoken English, capable of communicating effectively across engineering, product, and leadership teams.
• Comfortable having clear, honest, and difficult conversations.
• Alignment with the company's Culture Playbook.
