About the Role
We are building an AI-powered translation infrastructure and need a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to own it. This is an early-stage platform role where you will design systems for self-service and drive the technical execution of an internal AI translation platform. You will also determine where human review is essential and design workflows for efficient, high-quality review. Your initial focus will be on plugging into the existing localization program to understand its current state and identify opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Own the localization infrastructure product, including roadmap, architecture decisions, and stakeholder alignment.
- Partner with engineers to design and ship multi-platform systems that meet complex, evolving localization needs.
- Build functional prototypes independently to validate ideas and refine requirements.
- Design workflows and self-serve patterns to enable teams to move forward efficiently.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted translation tooling while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Make informed build-vs-buy decisions for internal tooling and vendor solutions.
- Manage relationships with translation and localization vendors, defining expectations and integration points.
Requirements
- PMs, solutions architects, solutions consultants, engineers, or others with a background in localization or content operations are encouraged to apply.
- A thoughtful interest in localization and how AI impacts the cost curve and program management.
- Systems thinking and product instincts are essential; domain depth can be built.
- Familiarity with the localization landscape, including tools, workflows, and vendor relationships.
- Ability to develop a clear framework for when human review is required.
- Experience with platforms like Phrase is relevant context.
- Deep familiarity with headless CMS architecture; Sanity experience is a strong plus.
- Comfortable with Node.js, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks.
- Ability to build simple web apps and functional prototypes independently.
- Comfortable building with AI development tools like Claude Code or Cursor.
- Comfortable architecting multi-platform systems and reasoning about long-term design tradeoffs.
- Ability to collaborate closely with engineering, pair on problems, and leverage AI development tools.
- Capacity to hold technical conversations and contribute to decision-making.
- Experience managing stakeholders across team boundaries.
- Genuinely curious about AI's possibilities and comfortable using and building with AI tools.
- Iterative approach to shipping and learning.
- Systems thinker, designing for future problems.
- Candidates based in the United States: expected salary range $139,000 - $208,000/year, OTE $154,000 - $231,000/year.
