About the Role
The Business Systems Associate will operate effectively in a fast-paced captive finance environment, providing timely, high-quality support to business and IT teams. This role serves as a liaison between business users, IT teams, and third-party vendors to deliver practical system solutions, support business priorities, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, functional, non-functional, and data requirements for enhancements, production issues, and new initiatives.
- Assess impacts to systems, products, and processes, and prepare supporting artifacts such as workflows, use cases, and functional specifications.
- Coordinate with business users, IT teams, and vendors to translate approved requirements into vendor change requests and IT delivery documentation.
- Provide guidance on system capabilities and recommend practical solutions.
- Support solution delivery and testing by aligning test scenarios and test cases with approved requirements.
- Validate that delivered solutions meet business needs and minimize unintended impacts.
- Analyze data, business rules, and system behavior to support requirement validation, issue investigation, and impact assessment.
- Review data mapping and quality, and use SQL to validate findings as needed.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions by assessing workflows, system capabilities, and operational impacts.
- Support implementation readiness and alignment with business priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in business systems analysis, business analysis, or systems support, preferably in captive finance, automotive finance, consumer finance, leasing, or loan origination/servicing environments.
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business, functional, non-functional, and data requirements for system enhancements, issue resolution, and process improvements.
- Experience translating business requirements into vendor change requests, technical specifications, or structured IT delivery documentation.
- Experience working directly with third-party vendors and internal IT teams to support system enhancements, issue investigation, and solution delivery.
- Experience assessing the impact of requests on system behavior, upstream and downstream processes, integrations, and existing products.
- Prior experience in the automotive finance or consumer finance industry is strongly preferred.

- Strong understanding of system behavior, business processes, product configurations, and the impact of requested changes on existing functionality.
- Ability to challenge assumptions, ask effective questions, and recommend alternative solutions that better address the underlying business need.
- Strong understanding of consumer finance, auto finance, or captive finance concepts, including how system changes may affect products, workflows, and customer or dealer experience.
- Ability to translate requirements into vendor change requests and/or IT technical documentation suitable for development and delivery teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes, process gaps, and downstream impacts.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and facilitate discussions across business, IT, and vendor teams.
- Working knowledge of data structures, data mapping, data quality analysis, and relational databases.
- Basic SQL knowledge required, including the ability to read and write simple queries to validate data, investigate issues, and support requirements analysis.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple requests in a dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and completeness.
