About the Role
We’re seeking a passionate and dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the development of frame, body, and cabin components for electric forklifts. It requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent technical knowledge and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and adaptive person that contributes strong technical expertise to a fast-paced engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and release components for new forklift models and product options.
- Engineer a wide variety of parts, including welded steel assemblies, metal castings, plastic and rubber components, multi‑part assemblies, and electrical components.
- Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and study files using Creo; manage and maintain design data within PDM systems.
- Ensure high‑quality drawings by clearly defining design intent, materials, dimensions, tolerances, quality control characteristics, and product requirements.
- Validate component designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to ensure structural integrity and performance.
- Define system parameters and design solutions that meet performance, durability, and reliability requirements.
- Participate in regular design reviews to maintain engineering standards and promote effective communication across the team.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners (manufacturing, quality, purchasing, testing, and supply chain) to ensure designs meet cost, quality, manufacturability, and delivery targets.
- Partner with the testing organization to define test plans, criteria, and pass/fail requirements for prototype and validation testing.
- Develop and maintain simultaneous engineering documentation, including DFMEAs, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change orders/instructions.
- Plan, manage, and execute component development schedules to ensure alignment with overall project timelines and milestones.
- Act as the design lead on a project with minimal direction.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years experience in Product Design/Development, preferably in New Product Development
- 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and PDM system experience
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong analytical ability.
- Proficient communication and documentation skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with cross-cultural teams.
- Material handling, automotive or heavy equipment design experience.
