About the Role

This position is part of the Center for Precision Medicine for High-Risk Pediatric Cancer. The individual will lead, with PI oversight, the scientific work of our Synovial Sarcoma registry and biorepository, expanding it to additional sites and integrating international patient data. The successful applicant will prioritize and oversee the use of biospecimens, leveraging new technologies like AI for data extraction and integration.

Responsibilities

Conducts research of significant scientific value in basic and/or translational science.
Functions independently in the development and execution of research projects in consultation with the PI.
Plans, conducts, and manages research projects within federal, institutional regulations, and policies.
Collaborates with researchers, external agencies, and institutions to develop cooperative research initiatives.
Trains technical staff, students, fellows, and physicians in lab procedures.
Reviews manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
Assists with the development of high-quality publications for peer-reviewed, scientific journals.
Assists in composing, developing, and submitting applications for grants, contracts, and research project funding.
Responsible for the appropriate use of research funds.
May supervise students or other research staff.
Leads the scientific work of the Synovial Sarcoma registry and biorepository.
Expands the registry to additional sites and includes international patients.
Integrates data from other institutional registries.
Prioritizes and oversees the use of biospecimens.
Works with the PI to prioritize and oversee the use of biospecimens.
Prepares manuscripts and abstracts for publication.
Publishes scientific articles in refereed journals.
Presents at scientific symposiums.
Collaborates and interacts with other researchers within CHOP - RI and at other institutions.
Assists in the preparation of scientific publications and research grant proposals.
Serves as a resource person for colleagues and as a mentor for less experienced research personnel.
May manage/supervise other research staff or projects.
Assists with the management of laboratory operations.

Requirements

At least nine (9) years of directly relevant scientific lab experience Required.
Candidates with backgrounds in epidemiology, conduct of registries, and/or the study of clinical oncology datasets are preferred.
Experience in the use of new technologies (including AI) and data tools to accelerate data extraction and integration is desirable.
