About the Role
An Assistant Superintendent manages field operations on a project, demonstrating knowledge of construction and promoting a strong safety culture. They require excellent planning, problem-solving, and motivational skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and execute work plans for construction activities.
- Lead subcontractor pre-installation meetings, mock-up construction, and site orientations.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and security of project site and company assets.
- Oversee equipment and material ordering, delivery, storage, tracking, and utilization, including invoice accuracy.
- Verify accuracy of surveying, layout, and field measurements.
- Champion the company's safety program by facilitating safety meetings and enforcing safety policies.
- Assist in providing progress and cost reports, schedule updates, and completion requirements.
- Participate in OAC meetings.
- Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, verifying insurance, layout, materials, quantities, productivity, and schedule compliance.
- Investigate and resolve field coordination issues, supporting the RFI process.
- Produce daily/weekly field observation reports with photographs.
- Anticipate challenges and develop corrective action plans.
- Schedule and manage timely work inspections.
- Administer and document the Quality Assurance program.
- Schedule, supervise, track, and document punch list resolution and project turnover.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with all project stakeholders.
- Promote professionalism and ethics.
Requirements
- Journeyman Carpenter or B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of construction experience in Life Sciences/Technology, Education, Healthcare, or Structures/Interiors/TI’s within the Bay Area.
- Basic understanding of all trades, including MEP.
- Some exposure to ground-up construction or significant structural work.
- Understanding of the building permit process.
- Understanding of all Cal OSHA requirements for a construction site.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and systematic approach.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and make decisions under tight deadlines.
- Acts with integrity and supports company values.
- Understands and utilizes company project management/computer systems.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
