About the Role
The Line Technician plays an important leadership role in the Filling/Packaging department, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role oversees activities on the filling/packaging line, provides direction, trains new employees, and supports supervisors in achieving safety, quality, and production output goals.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand Process Instructions (PI), product labels, and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP); verify, communicate, and improve SOPs and PIs.
- Take appropriate actions to correct issues, ensure the line area and equipment are kept organized and clean, and properly de-issue and return materials at the end of a job run.
- Proactively plan and schedule line needs, including Tooling Maintenance Changeovers, and predict tool wear and changes based on SPC/OEE Data.
- Communicate information to the supervisor regarding manpower, production, and machine issues, and recommend remedial actions.
- Read and interpret production reports and obtain first offs.
- Set up and maintain production assets (labeler, filler, and capper) to guarantee optimal run time.
- Repair equipment, tools, and machines.
- Ensure line changeovers and set-ups are completed correctly and within the required time.
- Communicate with coworkers to solve immediate production concerns or complete production assignments.
- Complete production assignments in a timely manner and in accordance with department schedules.
- Strictly control Line Tech/Maintenance tools at all times.
- Continuously monitor product for defects and quality, identifying alignment, lot codes, debris, and other observable defects.
- Investigate and resolve downtime issues, troubleshoot problems, correct issues in a timely manner, and make improvements.
Requirements
- 2–3 years’ experience with equipment set-up, calibration, and changeovers in a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of filling/packaging machinery and production processes.
- Basic computer skills (data entry, reporting, production software).
- First Aid trained or willing to obtain certification.
