About the Role
The Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) simulates pilots and other controllers in an Air Traffic Controller training simulator, operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system to mimic pilot and remote ATC facility actions and communications during training exercises.
Responsibilities
- Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system.
- Simulate actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities.
- Receive voice commands from students.
- Input entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
- Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
- Respond to students via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
- Complete classroom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
- Complete lab certification (perform as an RPO on all positions).
