About the Role

Arcadis is seeking Construction Managers for Station Areas along the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) corridor. This role involves overseeing construction compliance for subway stations and related underground structures, ensuring seamless integration into local communities.

Responsibilities

  • Represents Metrolinx in day-to-day construction activities and reports to the Underground Segment Construction Manager.
  • Oversees construction compliance of a sub-segment of the Advance Tunnel project, including stations, EEB and TPSS sites, and tunnel boring activities.
  • Manages a team of Surface Civil and Tunnel Construction Managers, coordinators, and inspectors.
  • Performs compliance inspections against contract requirements, verifying materials, workmanship, and installation.
  • Witnesses testing, commissioning, and inspections.
  • Issues change orders and change directives as recommended or approved by the Professional of Record (PoR).
  • Oversees the implementation of and conformance with the contractor’s quality documentation.
  • Maintains inspection reports, deficiency logs, and RFI logs.
  • Verifies contractor compliance with technical standards, regulatory approvals, and owner specifications.
  • Supports acceptance and handover readiness.
  • Escalates instances of non-compliance to the Owner and/or Professional of Record, initiating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.
  • Reviews, marks up, and certifies progress payments in collaboration with the PoR team.
  • Prepares substantial performance and total completion correspondence when certified by the PoR team.
  • Coordinates with OneT and the PoR responsible for construction administration of civil works and wet utilities.
  • Manages and coordinates with third-party owners regarding the construction of and/or relocation of dry utilities.
  • Oversees environmental compliance in the station area.
  • Coordinates with other Station Area Construction Managers on the AT YNSE.

Requirements

  • Works from a site trailer provided by Project Co.
  • May be required to attend meetings at the YNSE project office (Yonge-Finch).
  • Must have a vehicle and be able to travel between multiple construction sites along Yonge St.
  • Must be willing to work shifts if needed.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Planning Act, property acquisition, and multi-disciplinary stakeholder management.
  • Thorough knowledge of the OHSA and local construction regulations.
  • Strong blueprint and schematic reading proficiency (structural, civil, and utilities plans).
  • Clear, universal communication skills to manage diverse field crews and interface with municipal agency representatives.
  • Strong analytical skills to handle complex utility conflicts or structural variables safely on-site.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence.
