About the Role
This role is a senior position within the Commodity Derivatives team, focusing on Base and Precious Metals in the UK. The primary responsibility is managing the trading book in collaboration with the wider Trading team, utilizing market judgment, risk management, and execution skills to achieve sustainable revenues and support the trading franchise's growth. The role requires adherence to regulations and internal policies, and the successful candidate will be identified as a Material Risk Taker (MRT) under the PRA/FCA Certification Regime.
Responsibilities
- Champion a client-focused culture to deepen relationships and leverage bank resources.
- Lead oversight of the metals trading book as a senior trader, managing risk with sound judgment.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to share market insights, identify opportunities, and execute transactions.
- Partner with Relationship Managers to expand the client base and cross-sell capabilities.
- Stay informed about industry developments, market conditions, competitor practices, and regulatory changes.
- Apply the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities and decisions.
- Pursue effective and efficient operations, maintaining strong business controls for regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, and conduct risk.
- Contribute to a high-performing, respectful, and inclusive team environment.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree required, preferably in STEM or a related discipline such as Finance, Economics, or Business.
- Strong product knowledge and understanding of financial markets.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, and trading protocols.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to compliance.
- Experience in Precious and Base Metals derivative trading.
