About the Role
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner. This role involves serving customers, managing bar inventory, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Mix and serve drinks according to established recipes and customer preferences.
- Craft classic cocktails, create new drinks, and pour wine, beer, and other beverages.
- Greet guests warmly, take drink orders, and provide attentive service.
- Engage with customers to enhance their experience, answer questions about the menu, and make recommendations.
- Manage bar operations efficiently, including restocking and organizing bar supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and set up and close down the bar area.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and assist in managing bar stock.
- Conduct regular inventory checks.
- Process payments accurately, handle cash and credit card transactions, and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Ensure all transactions are recorded correctly and follow up on discrepancies.
- Adhere to all local regulations regarding the serving of alcohol, including verifying age and refusing service to intoxicated individuals.
- Follow health and safety guidelines.
- Assist in preparing and serving drinks for special events, private parties, and functions.
- Work closely with servers, barbacks, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Handle customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally, escalating to management when necessary.
Requirements
- 3 years previous experience as a bartender or in a similar role is required.
- Candidates with supervisory experience will be highly regarded and may be considered for team lead role.
Skills
- Proficient in mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Good math skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Knowledge of alcoholic beverages, cocktail recipes, and proper serving techniques.
- Understanding of local laws regarding alcohol service.
Experience Level
- 3 years previous experience
Education Level
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Bartending school certification is an advantage
