About the Role

Positive Support Specialists (PSS) work in Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) programs, serving individuals with intensive medical, behavioral, and mental health needs. This role utilizes a person-centered approach to support individuals in reaching their goals while ensuring safety. Consistency and routine are crucial for program success. PSS team members will assist individuals at home and in the community, promoting independence and participation in meaningful activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in becoming more independent with essential life skills, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and community navigation.
  • Advocate for individuals' rights, medical care, and community integration.
  • Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping for each shift.
  • Safely and effectively manage crisis situations, which may include the use of manual restraints.
  • Engage in daily trauma-informed care practices.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with diverse individuals.
  • Physical ability to stand, squat, bend, or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must pass a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Check (MVR).
