About the Role
The Workday Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Workday initiatives across multiple modules and regions, managing implementations, enhancements, and optimizations from initiation through post-production support. This role requires collaboration with various departments and external vendors to deliver Workday solutions in a global environment, translating business needs into system solutions while managing cross-functional teams, risk, and change.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of Workday programs and projects, including implementations, enhancements, regulatory changes, and integrations.
- Own project governance including scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive effective stakeholder engagement and lead discussions to resolve complex issues, manage expectations, and drive consensus.
- Partner with Workday functional leads to coordinate design, build, testing, and deployment activities.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, milestones, timelines, and resource forecasts.
- Facilitate requirements gathering, design workshops, status meetings, and executive readouts.
- Monitor project risks and issues, drive mitigation strategies, and escalate when appropriate.
- Manage relationships with implementation partners and Application Management Services providers.
- Coordinate testing activities including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Support cutover planning, go-live readiness, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Ensure adherence to IT, data security, and change management standards.
- Provide clear, consistent communication to stakeholders and leadership on project status, risks, and outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement of Workday project delivery methodologies, documentation, and governance practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing Workday projects in a mid-to-large scale organization.
- Strong understanding of Workday project lifecycles and cross-module dependencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Experience working with external vendors, system integrators, or AMS partners.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to leadership.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust and credibility across functions.
- Clear, confident communicator able to translate complex system topics into business-friendly language.
