About the Role
The Financial Accountant ensures accurate end-to-end delivery of period-end close, balance sheet integrity, and statutory-ready financial reporting for HQ entities. This role is key in maintaining financial controls, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, improving processes, and supporting business decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end close reporting for the HQ Group, ensuring timely, accurate and complete delivery.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packs, including P&L, Balance Sheet and supporting schedules, ensuring outputs are audit-ready.
- Determine and post journals, accruals, provisions and reclasses, applying appropriate accounting judgement and documentation standards.
- Manage intercompany accounting for entities in scope, including recharges, reconciliations, query resolution and settlement support.
- Partner with budget holders to ensure accurate period recognition and financial impact, proactively address risks and challenge assumptions.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation and register integrity.
- Ensure accurate IFRS16 accounting, including monthly postings and balance sheet reporting.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT Returns and related reconciliations for the UK entity, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Support local statutory filings for the UK entity and liaise with external auditors and local advisors as required.
- Support ad hoc reporting, projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS.
- Support HQ financial close and audit processes.
- Partner confidently with stakeholders and explain financial information clearly.
Requirements
- Part or newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with accounting experience.
- Proven track record in managing complex financial operations, including international subsidiaries.
- IFRS multi-currency experience required.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of working with auditors to complete statutory audits.
- Experience owning period-end close and ensuring balance sheet integrity through robust reconciliations.
- Practical experience with VAT compliance and statutory accounts processes.
- NetSuite and Tagetik experience is a bonus.
