About the Role

Galliford Try Building London Southeast & Commercial is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the design team. This role is primarily site-based, with occasional travel to the Uxbridge office required during tenders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire design solution process to meet or exceed customer requirements and framework deliverables.
  • Identify contractual, financial, technical, and operational risks, and find opportunities for value engineering to minimize risk and maximize gross profit while achieving customer satisfaction.
  • Support the safe, timely, and quality fulfillment of the contract pipeline.
  • Lead the appointment of design and associated consultants, ensuring contractual requirements and deliverables are clearly defined.
  • Review and appraise consultant fee proposals, manage consultant performance, and encourage collaboration for robust, coordinated designs.
  • Support and manage the development of CDP Packages to ensure compliance and coordination.
  • Assess consultants in line with CDM 2015 requirements and ensure all obligations are met, with designs considering health, safety, and buildability.
  • Manage and own all design processes and information flow on Design and Build and heavily CDP contracts to meet employer's requirements, contractor's proposals, and contract conditions within program constraints using our CDE.
  • Assess, evaluate, and ensure alignment of design outputs to relevant RIBA Stages.

Requirements

  • New build and refurbishment experience in commercial, residential, mixed-use, hotel, and city centre developments.
  • Experience with Traditional and D&B Contracts.
  • Experience with all building elements including sub-structure, frame and envelope solutions, internal trades, and MMC.
  • Experience managing designers and other consultants.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time, to budget, and to quality standards with high customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in analyzing problems and delivering solutions.
  • Computer literate and commercially astute.
  • Good time management with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to make decisions within authority.
  • Ability to lead and work as a team member.
