About the Role
Responsible for ensuring all train maintenance and servicing activities run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes people management for the production department, providing direction, instruction, and guidance to staff, including Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Assistants.
Responsibilities
- Assist in running an efficient train maintenance operation that fulfills operational and contractual targets.
- Manage maintenance projects in accordance with engineering instructions.
- Ensure the safety of team members and those impacted by maintenance activities.
- Work in accordance with the company’s safety and quality requirements, and procedures within the Deport Safety Management System and Depot Operations Plan.
- Perform effective diagnosis of train faults and timely repair of components to maximize train availability.
- Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance to minimize train unavailability/downtime.
- Record and document all work carried out within Alstom Asset Management System (SAP GSI).
- Analyze faults to identify root causes and develop countermeasures, improvement actions, and containments.
- Control and source maintenance tools, equipment, and spares.
- Support the Reliability Shift Manager and high-tech team in documenting breakdowns, identifying root causes, and remedial actions.
- Maintain high standards of tidiness and organization in line with 5S practices.
- Work in accordance with mandatory Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks within the department.
- Collaborate with team and other department members to produce effective maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods.
- Lead a team of maintenance technicians and assistants to ensure smooth workflow and maximum output.
- Motivate, coach, and oversee the team’s performance, attendance, and disciplinary issues.
- Coach staff in good working practices and quality standards.
- Support the Shift Production Manager in identifying training needs.
- Deputize for the Shift Production Manager as required during leave or absence.
