About the Role
Element Solutions Inc is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Japan SDS Author with 3-5 years of experience to author Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with Japanese regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is an expert in SDS authoring with strong knowledge of Japan GHS classification, chemical regulations, and transport classification, capable of translating complex data into accurate, compliant SDS documents.
Responsibilities
- Independently author, review, and update product SDS in compliance with Japan GHS, Fire Service Law, Industrial Safety and Health Law (ISHL), Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL), Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law (PDSCL), Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR), and transport classification (UN, IMDG, IATA, ADR).
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness of SDS content across all product portfolios.
- Monitor Japan regulatory changes and proactively implement updates in SDS.
- Support the creation of Development product SDS for R&D projects.
- Collaborate with Asia and global regulatory colleagues on issues related to Japan SDS.
- Authoring other Asia region GHS SDS will be a plus point.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience authoring complete Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with Japanese regulatory requirements.
- Self-sufficient expert in SDS authoring.
- Strong knowledge of Japan GHS classification, chemical regulations, and transport classification.
- Proven ability to translate complex chemical and regulatory data into accurate, compliant SDS documents.
- Ability to take full ownership of the SDS authoring process - from data evaluation and hazard classification to final document completion in SAP (or equivalent SDS software).
- Proactive, detail-driven, and capable of working independently.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with evolving Japanese chemical regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific or technical discipline, such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese chemical regulations, including Fire Service Law, Industrial Safety and Health Law (ISHL), Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law (PDSCL), and PRTR.
- Good understanding of GHS regulations in Japan and other Asian countries.
- Proven ability to interpret complex chemical and regulatory information and translate it into accurate, compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
