About the Role

Senior TV Producers at Sky News Australia are key members of the Programs team, collaborating closely with hosts and Executive Producers to shape opinion programs. This role involves driving content, booking guests, and overseeing the editorial and visual direction of episodes in a fast-paced, dynamic newsroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Help drive a small team to put together a unique program with a wide variety of topical news, politics and current affairs stories.
• Work closely with opinion hosts to create a show that drives ratings and sets the agenda.
• Learn from Executive Producers with an eye to step into their shoes when required.
• Compile rundowns and output shows live from the control room, communicating with pilots, TDs, host, reporters and guests.
• Book guests and studios and manage talent in the newsroom, finding fresh faces where possible.
• Use editing software to cut grabs and overlay to add depth to programs.
• Build attractive graphics to complement arguments put forward by hosts.
• Meet quality control standards and comply with company policies.
• Ensure content is legally safe and complies with broadcasting codes.
• Contribute to leadership, creativity, writing, chasing, and talent management in television production.

Requirements

• Solid newsroom experience.
• Ability to master software to produce TV programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with politicians, CEOs, contributors, and colleagues.
• Very good knowledge of Australian politics and current affairs.
• Good understanding of news events occurring elsewhere in the world.
• Ability to write headline straps that are eye-catching and unfailingly accurate.
• Ability to write mini editorials which include grabs, and frame questions for host and panellists.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new working practices and contribute to new programs.
• Ability to work independently when required and carry out assignments outside the day-to-day routine.
• Previous experience in TV or radio broadcasting is required.
• Healthy knowledge of Sky News products is essential.
• Understanding of broadcasting codes and relevant laws.

• Frame Light X proficiency (ideal, training provided).
• ENPS proficiency (ideal, training provided).
• Editing software usage.
• Graphic design for broadcast.
