About the Role
Our Sydney Buildings group is seeking a Principal Hydraulic Engineer. This full-time leadership role combines technical expertise with strategic business development and client engagement, suitable for a qualified candidate to lead diverse projects. We seek someone with hydraulic design consultancy experience in the building services sector, capable of ensuring projects are thoroughly designed, reviewed, and delivered on time. The role involves servicing large, complex projects with multiple clients across various sectors like data centers, health, defense, high-rise, and education.
Responsibilities
- Develop hydraulic building services designs, including water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and gas systems.
- Lead client-facing project delivery from concept through construction, ensuring high-quality outcomes and strong stakeholder satisfaction.
- Prepare technical documentation, calculations, assessments, specifications, and tender packages for various building projects.
- Conduct site inspections, defect reporting, and respond to RFIs during construction.
- Prioritize workloads while meeting client needs.
- Continue to build and develop your professional profile across NSW.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, Building Codes, and client specifications.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Be degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
- Have hydraulic building services work experience within the consulting or engineering industry.
- Hold design and building practitioners accreditation.
- Possess self-management skills as important as technical design and project management abilities.
- Ideally be well-connected within the industry and able to foster client relationships.
- Be technically strong in understanding the key elements of design and construction associated with Hydraulic Engineering works.
- Ability to make quality business decisions.
- Ability to multitask and deliver high-profile projects in a timely manner.
