About the Role
The Security Products Console team owns the public-facing interface for configuring Next-Gen WAF, DDoS protection, Bot Management, and future security products. Our APIs are critical for customers to manage security during active attacks, automate workflows, and adapt to the evolving threat landscape. This role involves shaping the API surface for new product launches and a growing developer ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Design, ship, and own public-facing APIs and backend services in Go.
- Utilize AI coding agents in daily workflow.
- Partner with frontend engineers, product managers, and security researchers to deliver the end-to-end customer experience.
- Transform ambiguous problems into well-defined technical plans.
- Author design and architectural documents to drive alignment.
- Collaborate with internal teams, product managers, and stakeholders to understand needs and deliver solutions.
- Consider stability, performance, and scalability in designs and team guidance.
- Mentor and grow other engineers through code review and pairing.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing and building reliable, large-scale backend systems.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 5+ years shipping production Go as the primary language.
- 3+ years on public APIs with external consumers.
- Experience shipping a breaking API change to customers.
- Experience writing API deprecation notices.
- Proven ability to drive projects end-to-end, from design doc through post-launch.
- Good judgment on RESTful API design principles (resource modeling, versioning, idempotency, error semantics, pagination, OpenAPI).
- Experience designing APIs with consideration for downstream users (customers, support engineers, frontend teammates).
- Understanding of testing and observability as subtraction, not addition.
- Comfort using coding agents as a daily driver.
