About the Role

The HR Generalist will provide comprehensive HR support and guidance on recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits, health and safety, employee relations and HR best practices, partnering closely with both leaders and employees to deliver a positive and consistent employee experience. The HR Generalist provides timely, consistent, and customer-focused service, guidance, and administrative support on employment-related matters, applying sound judgment and discretion within established policies, legislative requirements, and delegated authority.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruitment, selection, and process for various departments, including managing postings, screening resumes, preparing interview materials, coordinating interviews, participating in interviews, and reference checking.
  • Coordinate and administer employee onboarding activities to ensure a positive and consistent new hire experience.
  • Prepare employment offers, employment verification letters, memos, and manage new hire documentation, overseeing employee change of status reporting.
  • Provide responsive HR related support and information to supervisors and employees across the organization.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in all activities, including employee files, HRIS system, and workplace investigations files, in accordance with legislative, organizational, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Administer employee benefit programs and support payroll processing by tracking attendance, leaves of absence, and salary changes.
  • Assist Leadership Team with performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and implementation of termination process.
  • Be an active member of the JHSC.
  • Support the administration of compensation programs, including job evaluations and market data collection.
  • Lead or support engagement initiatives, recognition programs, internal communication, and team-building activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, policies, processes, and reporting. Assist with HR reporting, audits, and policy updates.
  • Manage company clothing allocation system, monitor inventory levels, and place clothing orders.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple Outlook calendar events, meeting rooms and conference bookings.
  • Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping and quality standards are maintained. Assist with, and be knowledgeable about prescribed fire procedures.
  • Conduct other work activities according to established job instructions and follow procedures and practices of Starlim North America Corporation.
  • Other duties as assigned by department manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience.
  • CHRP designation in good standing as a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA).
  • Sound knowledge of applicable human resources legislation, regulations, and best practices, including the Employment Standards Act, 2000, WSIB requirements, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and human rights legislation.
  • Experience working with ADP is an asset.
  • Experience oriented to a manufacturing organization is an asset.

Skills

  • Confidentiality and high ethical standards.
  • Significant experience with full cycle recruitment.
  • Knowledge of employee compensation and benefits plan.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and confidence in dealing with all levels of an organization.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented to effectively manage multiple assignments, adapt to changing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Highly developed critical thinking and analysis skill.
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading abilities.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to achieve a common goal and develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with others, both inside and outside the company.
  • Strong understanding of HR employment related legislation and experience updating HR policies.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
