About the Role
Schumacher & Co. is implementing a new Product Information Management (PIM) system and seeks a detail-oriented Data Management Intern to support critical data cleanup, entry, and validation for a successful launch. This hands-on role offers direct collaboration with product, portfolio development, and technology teams on a high-visibility initiative, reporting to the Product Management Team and partnering with the PIM project lead. The goal is to achieve measurable improvements in attribute completeness and accuracy across the catalog within six months, establishing a documented, repeatable process for the team.
Responsibilities
- Clean, standardize, and enrich product attributes in the PIM system across a catalog of 20,000+ SKUs spanning Fabric, Wallcovering, Trim, and Furniture, using batch tools and lookups for efficiency at scale.
- Review and validate data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency against established rules and standards.
- Reconcile product data across source systems to identify and flag discrepancies.
- Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to source missing attributes and confirm data accuracy.
- Partner with the Portfolio Development, Design and Data teams to resolve data gaps and quality issues.
- Work within Excel-based taxonomy and classification templates to support data preparation and handoff.
Requirements
- Strong Excel / spreadsheet skills, including comfort with large, structured datasets and proficiency in lookups (VLookup / XLookup), pivot tables, filtering, and deduplication.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership and accountability for data accuracy.
- Ability to follow detailed process documentation and clearly flag exceptions.
- A pattern-spotter who can identify when a rule produces incorrect output and propose improvements.
- A self-starter with good judgment for independent decision-making versus escalation.
- Strong intuition for distinguishing between batch fixes and tasks requiring human review, maintaining precision at volume.
- Enthusiasm for utilizing AI tools to accelerate and enhance repetitive data work.
- Clear, professional written communication skills.
- Interest in product data, eCommerce, or digital operations.
