Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge, and assist with merchandise selection.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and with a sense of importance.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, assisting patrons with item selection and suggesting alternatives.
  • Oversee the operations of the sales department.
  • May order merchandise, receive stock, price items, and monitor inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with store management on price changes, markdowns, promotional displays, and signage.
  • Communicate with HQ staff to resolve special order requests or store-level merchandise issues.
  • Assist store management in training employees on cash register and front-end duties.
  • Provide input for employee evaluations.
  • Operate a cash register, accepting various forms of payment.
  • Prepare, verify, and issue change funds.
  • Collect and reconcile cash receipts, register tapes, checks, and credit card receipts.
  • Compare register tapes with the Daily Activity Report and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain cash overage/shortage records for cashiers.
  • Ensure control and security of change funds, the safe, and cash registers.
  • Act as a key carrier, opening and closing the store as required.
  • May direct or supervise other employees and assume responsibility for the store in management's absence.
  • Adhere to all Loss Prevention policies, including shrink awareness and the Alert Line.
  • Follow established safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements.
  • Work weekends as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Prior retail experience in inventory control and retail sales.
  • Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Experience operating a cash register.
  • Working knowledge of sales inventory.
  • Previous retail supervisory experience.
  • Current USCG NAF sales clerk with at least 6 months of experience.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check and all pre-employment requirements.
  • Must be registered with the Selective Service System (males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years of age), unless exempt.
  • Non-U.S. nationals must have resided within the U.S. or its territories for at least three of the last five years.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Applicants may not be employed in the chain of command of their relatives.
