About the Role

We are a busy, warm, and active family seeking a reliable and proactive House Manager / Family Assistant to help manage our household and support our children. This role is crucial for keeping our household running smoothly and requires someone who can take initiative, maintain organization, and provide a grounding presence. Responsibilities

  • Pick-ups and drop-offs for children, 3-4 days per week.
  • Gently encourage teens to take responsibility for their belongings and laundry.
  • Assist with driving to after-school activities and playdates.
  • Provide light supervision and backup childcare as needed, including date-night coverage and occasional overnight stays.
  • Run kid-related errands as needed.
  • Maintain and support existing organizational systems within the household.
  • Perform daily tidying and household reset, including dishes, vacuuming, and managing drop-zone areas.
  • Prepare the home for weekly cleaners.
  • Conduct seasonal clothing sort-outs and coordinate donation drop-offs or pickups.
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel.
  • Swap air purifier filters as needed.
  • Cover outdoor furniture and grill ahead of rain.
  • Maintain general home upkeep, such as replacing light bulbs and batteries.
  • Prepare approximately 3 dinners per week, either fully or partially.
  • Ensure kitchen clean-up and maintenance.
  • Perform grocery runs for immediate needs.
  • Fold and iron clothing, particularly dress shirts, uniforms, and work attire.
  • Rotate linens and towels as needed.
  • Provide gentle reminders for children regarding their laundry.
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area.
  • Monitor and restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage and track household orders and subscriptions.
  • Unpack and organize deliveries, and break down boxes.
  • Monitor expiration dates and discard spoiled items.
  • Maintain a running list of children's toiletry needs.
  • Prepare dry cleaning items for pickup and manage UPS returns.
  • Handle incoming mail and packages.
  • Provide pet care as needed, including feeding and walking.
  • Administer daily probiotic treats to the dog and monitor/reorder dog food.
  • Refill the indoor dog food bin.
  • Perform occasional cleaning, organizing, and fueling of the family vehicle.
  • Provide home access to scheduled vendors.
  • Oversee cleaners as needed.
  • Manage outdoor spaces, including covering furniture and grills.
  • Conduct occasional research for vacation reservations and travel logistics.
  • Update the household's printed weekly and monthly calendar.
  • Provide light calendar awareness and schedule support.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Must be up-to-date on vaccinations (general, COVID, Flu).
  • Must be comfortable with large dogs.
  • Must maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Must be able to take direction well and follow through without reminders.
  • Must be deeply reliable, communicate proactively, and treat the home with care and discretion.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable when the family's schedule shifts or needs evolve.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
